Be Where You Are
One thing this festive season has really taught me is that its important to be present in the moment.
Usually we can get so carried away with life, with our careers, social media and being busy on our phones that we forget about what quality time really means.
Quality time is NOT responding to or taking calls while spending time with people. Quality time is NOT how much money you spend on creating the moments. Quality time is NOT about the presents you have to give. What it is though, is being present in the moment, putting everything one side and just being 100% there.
We were not in a financial position to spoil the family as we would of liked to this Christmas. Instead, I decided to make a commitment to spending quality time with the family, putting everything including my phone one side. What I found was that I actually enjoyed this Christmas way better than any other Christmas. We actually got to really chat and build some memories, swim together as a family and just feel and soak in the joy of the moments.
I am extremely bad with being on my phone or switching my mind off from planning or thinking about things. It’s going to take some practice for me to make putting everything one side a habit, but it will be worth it. I found so much more value in doing this. My cup is full, my heart is full. Coming together as a family in unity and love should not only be a Christmas or special occasion thing, this should be an everyday thing.
Being present is so much more valuable than presents. Be where you are!
When we love and feel loved there is no room for any anxieties, fears, negative feelings or anything except perfect unity.
I would really encourage you, if you’re a person who gets carried away with the business of life that you find yourself struggling to juggle everything and quality time with your family. Put your phone one side, put everything one side.. your world is not going to end if you put an hour aside for this, your phone will not explode, you will not miss your messages, they will still be there. If you miss a call, you can call them back or they will call you back. Just do it, your cup will be filled way more than technology can fill it.
“And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” ~ Colossians 3:14
Love and be loved, be present. Moments are precious, memories created last forever! Tomorrow is not promised!
Much love

Amen! One thing I used to do extremely and am now trying to do again is to give God His time. We let so much time go to other things, we spend so little time with Him. He’s worth a chunk of our day, just to praise and reflect on His goodness. Then, pray and ask for the things we need and along the way we read and study His Word.
Amen! It’s so easy to get distracted with the things around us! Like reading the Bible on the Bible app and then getting a message and checking it quickly… I’ve deleted the app from my phone, I read the actual bible in book form and put my phone completely one side. When I’m with family or friends I’ll be doing the same putting everything one side and just being present in the moment. Whatever and with whoever that moment is. It’s so important and there’s so much more value in it!
That’s an excellent idea. It’s one thing to skim over some scripture, but if we’re going to be fed with the spiritual nourishment we need to live, we need to dig in and desire some meat.
This is such a wonderful post Di. So true. I try harder now, than I ever have before, to live in the present. I still mess it up from time to time but I am getting better. Thank you for this great encouragement. God bless you and your family!
Thank you hun! We are only human and will mess things up from time to time. The important thing is where our hearts are at and at least trying and trying again. ❤ God bless hun
