Finding Joy

2018 was one of our most challenging years but yet at the same time it is the year I am most grateful for! This is the year that I have grown the most spiritually and that God has really healed me, cleansed me, woken me from a dead sleep and used every pain for good. If I could go back and change anything, I would leave it just the same.

This makes me really look forward to what 2019 has to offer and for what God has in store!

It’s not our circumstances that determine our happiness / wholeness or the start or end of a year. It’s how open minded we are to change and bettering ourselves. I chose a teachable heart for 2018, and I’ve soaked in and applied every bit of spiritual advice I could get my hands on. This lead me to pure joy no matter what our circumstances were.

Joy / Happiness is not determined by the people we have in our lives, our wealth / financial situation or even any of our circumstances.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
James 1:2-3

God says “Count it all joy when you face trials of various kinds”. How do we do that when our circumstances feel so unbearable and leave us in a state of despair?

The truth is there is no step by step guide to counting it all joy. It’s quite simple, we wake up everyday and we choose it. God has left His joy available to us, we just need to reach for it and accept it. It’s making that conscious decision, everyday, when you wake up, to choose joy over any other feeling.

When the traffic is bad, we choose it!
When that friend hurts us, we choose it!
When our financial situation takes a dip, we choose it!
When we’re busy we choose it!
When we get bad news, we choose it!
When things don’t go our way, we choose it!
No matter what happens, we choose it!

Joy is a choice and we need to choose it everyday! Everything else falls into place after. It’s important for our overall wellbeing and shuts the doors for the enemy to hold you in bondage. Choosing joy is an act of worship, acting out your faith and hope in the Lord!

“In Me, you may have peace, but in the world, you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”(John 16:33)

Joy is my word for this month, and I pray that you will take charge of the level of the Joy of the Lord in your life. Pray and ask Him to help you and remind you to bring yourself to a place of joy, no matter what circumstances you may face during the day, week or month.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” —Romans 15:13

Much love
